Sarjapur Road Woes : Iblur Junction to St. Peter's School, Kaikondrahalli

A Common Man's Perspective:
Do we, all Indians, have the will to become a Superpower ??

In recent times, prior & during the budget presentations, Prime Minister Modi set a stretch target of 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025. While divergent views exist considering the current state of economy ranging from "whether it is the right target or should we aim for more" to "aspirations and statements not reflect the current reality".

I leave this to experts to debate and provide working solutions on addressing the problems to work towards making India with the economy we all 1.3 billion Indians will be proud of, rather than just the TV channel debates.

I believe all the big aspirations can be fulfilled, not only we have big visions & work towards them, but also when we do small things right.

A possibility for "Doing small things right":

I have a simple problem to share: I am from Bangalore, travel every day from Sarjapur Road to Adugodi about approximately 11 KM one way to work & back. Invariably, it takes about 60 - 90 min one way; a month it is about 55 hours. With good roads and traffic conditions, this should have taken only about 20-25 hours. And more than the time, the way we reach office or return home after a hard day's work has an impact of quality of work life & personal life.

Like me, thousands travel to their work every morning and I see the resentment, frustration, helplessness in every fellow traveler.

If not for Bangalore Traffic Police's patient handling of the traffic, things would have gone worse.

See the route of Sarjapur Road: Iblur Junction to St. Peter School, Kaikondrahalli.

On a regular day, 1.8 Km stretch, takes about 15-20 min. With 1000s of vehicles moving on this road, what a national waste of resources !!

See the road condition - a 1.8 Km stretch, not even friendly to walk and take the pictures, leaving thousands of commuters suffer each and every day.

Does it require huge investments ?  No, It needs the empathy & willingness of the authorities, local representatives & proper use of the resources !!!.

It is doable & does not need super heroes.

To become a 5 trillion dollar economy,
along with big visions & action plans,
all stakeholders must do
SMALL THINGS RIGHT

Let us work towards improving the quality of life to all our citizen !!
Jai Hind !

Solving Puzzle : Solution orientation, Collaboration & Simple Lessons

On a Saturday morning, a very casual exchange on social media on solving a simple puzzle turned out to be a good learning..

Here you go: The puzzle was move just ONE match to fix the equation..

In a minute or two, someone posted a solution 8 - 4 = 4.
I knew we have more answers than one.. Kept pushing friends.. I got more answers....
            5 + 4 = 9;
            0 + 4 = 0;
and one answer with "out of box thinking" came :
5 + 4 ≠ 4 (You may be thinking who are these people : you are right, of course, from engineers)

May be there are more answers ! But the following lessons are learnt :

a. Solutions will come when you look at the problem, not just as problem, but work to find the solution
DEVELOP the attitude of SOLUTION ORIENTATION

b. You will have more solutions when you collaborate with your team
To find more solutions and better solutions, COLLABORATE

c. Every solution is correct and each one is right for his or her solution
See the OTHER PERSPECTIVE

At the end, the important one, every PROBLEM has SOLUTION(s).

My First Blog

This is my first attempt to blog. Finally I decided to take the plunge in to blogging after deliberating for months (or should I say years). At first , I was not sure what should I blog about ? Who will read my blogs? My own insecure feeling that I had my basic education in vernacular langauge & not so qualified to write in English.

Professionally, my job allows me to interact with a lot of colleagues in the organisation, cutting across the functions, hierachies, age groups etc. I realised that I have always enjoyed communicating with individuals, groups on any topic. Even in social gatherings, I observed that It does not take much time for me to strike a conversation with someone whom I just met. It dawned on me if I am so confident to communicate verbally with wide variety of groups, professionally or personally, why should I be afraid to blog?

While this internal dialogue is going on, I met some smart young people, who had set examples of courage in communicating in the real and digital world. I am making this beginning with the learnings from the interactions with these young friends. I know I will be  making mistakes while learning the ropes. Who does not?  You may fail when you are trying to do something new. You are CERTAIN to fail, when you do not even try.

This blog is dedicated to my young friends who have shown the passion in communicating what ever they wanted to communicate without fear. Thank you my young friends for giving me the courage. Thank you, Thank you & Thank you.
